As the car travelled into the distance, Sarah broke the silence. “So how do you guys wanna’ do this?” she asked, standing next to the dead mercenary. She looked at her partners searchingly.
Brian said, “Well let’s move the van next to the car here.” He pointed to the upturned minivan and dragged his finger across the air to the demolished Jeep.
He subconsciously put his hands on his hips. “Then we can burn both cars. Bill’s got plenty of hydrofluoric acid in his.”
“What about those three?” Aaron asked, pointing to the injured parents and dead child resting against their totalled van.
“And him?” he added, gesturing across the road to the mercenary’s mangled body. His tone was inquisitive, laced with irritation about doing the dirty work.
“Well we can’t just let them go, right?” Ray questioned.
Bill locked eyes with Brian, exchanging a knowing glance. Brian looked at each of the killers as he spoke.
“We can’t leave any witnesses,” he said ruthlessly, with no regard for the value of human life.
“We’ll kill those two, put all the bodies in the trunk, and take them with us until we find a more secluded area.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Bill replied, ready to get started.
The criminals got to work. Sarah helped Brian carry the mercenary’s corpse to the Chevelle, depositing it in the trunk. Bill and Ray walked over to the overturned van. The crash survivors were too frozen in shock to register their impending death.
Bill pulled his golden Desert Eagle from beneath his suit jacket, aiming at the head of the woman inertly holding her lifeless child. She looked up, jolted out of her trance by the handgun being pointed at her face. Her eyes widened in anesthetizing terror. It felt like ice was freezing her veins, cooling her blood, and paralyzing her with unquenchable fear. She was unable to react.
“Sorry,” Bill said with feigned remorse while he loomed over her. He fired a single shot. The loud bang erupted across the deserted road. Snapping back, the woman’s head cracked against the shattered and broken husk of the minivan. The hole in her flesh spurted blood against the vehicle. It was stained red as her head slid down and slumped onto her shoulder.
Ray stepped up to the shocked father, who jerked when he heard the gunshot’s enveloping noise. He became more alert, but had no chance to move before he was murdered. His body slunk down the side of the blue van, streaking it with blood as he crumpled. Ray put his smoking 9mm Beretta back into his holster.
Aaron laid the dead, blood-splattered child down in the trunk next to the mercenary’s body. He strolled back to the woman’s carcass. Bill flipped her into a lying position and lifted her torso while Matt grabbed her legs. They dropped her into the car. Brian walked over to the final corpse and helped Ray throw her on top of the other bodies.
Bill slammed the trunk closed after the other hit men helped him get the hydrofluoric acid and their protective gear from there. They started moving the decimated van.
